Weite was formed in Berlin in winter 2022 by bassist Ingwer Boysen (delving) recruiting drummer NickDiSalvo (Elder, delving) and guitarists Michael Risberg (Elder, delving) and Ben Lubin (Lawns). Initially intended as a one-off recording session, the four recognized an obvious musicalchemistry and common ground and decided to turn the project into a proper band.
Keyboardist Fabien de Menou (Perilymph) joined in 2024.
Oase is the sophomore album from Berlin-based progressive rock collective Weite, and the follow-up to the band’s 2023 debut LP Assemblage. Clocking in at almost an hour, Oase—German for "Oasis"—takes listeners on an intricate and textured journey that draws inspiration from the pioneering spirit of 70s psychedelic rock, blending influences from “Canterbury scene” prog, Krautrock, early electronica, post rock, and Americana.The new album showcases Weite's ability to merge the old with the new, creating an immersive, exploratory sound that moves from contemplative and pastoral to riffy and doomy without ever sacrificing melody.

The latest solo release from The Monophonics frontman roots itself in the best traditions of midwest soul labels like King, Curtom, Dakar, and the Bodie Recording Company. A Lover Was Born is a testimony that these deep cut grooves are not resigned to nostalgia, instead, they are at the burning heart of longing and hope.
Written in California, Ohio, and Staten Island, Kelly Finnigan collaborated with old friends in and outside the studio. “I enjoy working alone but it’s not how you want to make a record…almost everybody I brought in for this album I’ve worked with, toured with or spent a great deal of time with.” Max and Joe Ramey (The Ironsides), Jimmy James (Parlor Greens), Sergio Rios (Orgone), Joey Crispiano (Dap Kings) and Jay Mumford (aka J-Zone) all contribute to the overall sound of A Lover Was Born.

Hailing from various backgrounds, both musically and geographically, Swedish psych wonder MaidaVale have captivated audiences with their spirited energy since emerging on the Stockholm underground scene a decade ago. The band blends neo-psychedelia and krautrock with influences ranging from post-punk and funkadelia to North African blues. Their acclaimed debut Tales of the Wicked West (2016) quickly propelled them into major European rock scenes and festivals. Their more kraut-influenced sophomore album Madness is too Pure (2018) solidified their place in the psych rock scene with a bold, experimental take on the genre, earning them a Swedish music prize nomination for P3 Guld in the rock category alongside acts like Graveyard.

Ghost Funk Orchestra is the brainchild of composer/multi-instrumentalist Seth Applebaum. What started as a one-man recording project has now evolved into a 10-piece powerhouse live band. It’s a sonic kaleidoscope that defies genre specification, but draws heavy influence from the worlds of soul, psych rock, salsa, and beyond. Their unique blend of genres has attracted praise from the likes of Bandcamp, KUTX, Brooklyn Vegan, Earmilk, and more. Local NY blog Post-Trash described their sound as a ‘psych odyssey of traditional sounds delivered in a non-traditional fashion.’ Bandcamp’s Editorial Director J. Edward Keyes praised the band’s ability to ‘leave no funk-adjacent genre unexplored.’ Now, coming off of their highly regarded 2019 release ‘A Song For Paul,’ GFO is hard at work preparing their follow-up LP, to be released in fall 2020 on Karma Chief.

Here’s some appreciation and love for everything that’s happening right now! We won the APPLAUS Award 2024! This is an important milestone for us and our cultural endeavor over the past seven (yes, seven!) years. It’s also a big motivation to keep going. You must know—it’s not a given that we’re still here doing this. Every year is a challenge, and there are moments when we’re close to giving up. The financial struggle is very real, and we constantly find ourselves torn between keeping subculture affordable and securing enough support to keep us afloat. My deepest appreciation goes out to my wonderful parents and my entire family, who have supported this venture from the very beginning—with unwavering faith and unconditional love. @kitsebastianpop just released their new Album on @brainfeederrecords and we are more than happy to have them on one of our infamous Psychedelic Porn Funk Experiences. 25.10. will be 🔥🌚 🎟️ Ticketlink in bio 🎟️ ‘New Internationale’—their musically irrepressible and emotionally sophisticated third album, and their debut for Brainfeeder—is deliberate in a way Kit Sebastian has never really been. They wrote most of it on the road, energised by the sounds they discovered as they magpied instruments during their travels—Turkish clarinet, santour, oud, gangsa, zither, harpsichord, and on and on. They cut most of the tracks in London during brief breaks, longtime drummer Theo Guttenplan and double bassist David Richardson joining a panoply of horn, string, and percussion players. And during a year off from the road, where K. and Merve could concentrate on making sure the pieces moved together, they decamped to the French countryside for two weeks, leaving the distractions and moodiness of home. They captured vocals for 14 songs there in only half that time. Both Kit Sebastian’s busy touring schedule and subsequent break from it allowed Merve to step fully into these songs and their ever-shifting shapes, her confidence and versatility rising in tandem. Behind the Green Door & Grotto Terrazza present 🩸MINAMI DEUTSCH🩸 Motorik Beat / Kraut Rock (Japan) Everyone has their own imagination about outer space, and each one of us gets to daydream about what exactly floats or exists there. ‘Fortune Goodies’ is @minamideutsch ’s long-awaited 3rd studio album and an encyclopaedia of Krautrock, as band leader Kyotaro Miula describes it. While not all the songs on the record function as straightforward Krautrock this time around, they still manage to capture the spirit and heart of the genre. After relocating from Tokyo to Berlin, Miula’s musical vocabulary has greatly expanded, thus resulting in this ultimate Japanese take on cosmic music in 2022. Minami Deutsch is a Krautrock band from Tokyo. Formed by Kyotaro Miula in 2014, they got their start playing live music on the busy streets of Tokyo. This lead to their participation in Krautrock Night, a party hosted by Tokyo Psych Fest, and later a tour of Taiwan. In September, 2015, they released their first record through the English cult label Cardinal Fuzz Records. They are now part of the Japanese record label @gurugurubrain. Stripped back to the absolute essentials, each song locks squarely in the groove and begins unfurling its color-soaked fractals. There is not a single bum vibe, yet it’s made by human hands and not by machines. It’s how each song breathes and how it grows in the soil that frees it from the cold, mechanical “motorik” stereotype. Next on 14 July 2022: 🌓FÖLLAKZOID🌒 Santiago, Chile // Chilean Krautrock @domingaedomingae is a Chilean musician and filmmaker living in Mexico City; she founded her band @follakzoid in 2007 and has since been touring and releasing some of the most mind bending music with the renowned Sacred Bones record labels. Heavily informed by the heritage of the ancient music of the Andes, the band has learned to integrate their origins with contemporary sounds and technologies of our times, creating a rich yet minimal electronic-organic atmosphere. ‘I’ will be their fourth full-length release and third for Sacred Bones, following 2015’s ‘III’, 2013’s ‘II’ and 2009’s eponymous debut. Föllakzoid grows via depuration, aiming with each record to fill longer spaces of time with fewer and fewer elements. 🌜WAX MACHINE🌛 24.03.2022, Import Export Munich Brighton’s @waxmachinemusic are a band so steeped in the kernel of psychedelic seep that there’s every indication they may have slipped through a side door in space-time and sprouted anew a few years back on the UK coast. On Earthsong of Silence, their eclecticism incorporates Spiritual Jazz, Krautrock, Tropicália and Library Music, borrowing from dreams and trances to give life to a psychedelic experience that feels hauntingly familiar, yet strikingly new. They pick up right where their last EP’s title track, “Mind Palace,” left them —growing into the mossy eiderdown of the English countryside, delightfully dosed and drenched in the sun that filters through the trees. The flutes, wandering guitars, and jazz touches come rising through the mists with a guiding hand from Kikagaku Moyo’s Go Kurosawa behind the boards. 👾 Welcome back to the only righteous way to "Schwurbel". The psychedelic season for 2022 kicks in right here... Finally we can come together again and praise the love for music. For this warm welcome trip we chose some soulful psychedelia that takes you to orange drenched beaches and azure lagoons. A short break from reality, a daydream of escapism. Isn't that exactly what we need in these dystopian times? Oh - and there might be a slight chance of something something happening this night... we will see. We keep you updated. 🕺🏻 🔮 MARCOCA 🔮 In a time of made up genres and increasingly entwined music, Marcoca is not even trying to put themselves in to a specific category. Generally they consist of five individual musicians with various tastes and backgrounds, that enjoy their differences and don't worry too much about the outcome. Their second project "Cosmic Blunder" originated out of the urge to merge new psychedelic sounds with elements of funk, jazz and surf rock, while keeping the stuff that worked on the first record in place. The result is a reverb soaked ride through songs that cover the ups and downs of life and all the questions that come along with it. It is way more than a genre, it is a lifestyle, a cultural attitude and idealist concept that still has its place in our modern world.
